The Social Commitment Unit is dedicated to training, raising awareness, and promoting initiatives in seven crucial areas: volunteering, university cooperation for development, inclusion, gender equality, environmental sustainability, health promotion, and a training program for individuals over 50. It also aligns its efforts with the principles and objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
In addition to carrying out its own initiatives, the service actively collaborates with other structures and services to ensure that teaching, research, and knowledge transfer within the university community are imbued with a strong sense of social commitment.
The service was established in 2017, bringing together several smaller units that existed previously, such as the Green Office and the Offices for Cooperation and Volunteering.
The core activities of the service encompass training programs, awareness campaigns, and dissemination efforts related to the aforementioned areas of focus. It seeks to empower individuals, foster a sense of inclusivity, address gender disparities, promote sustainable practices, improve health and well-being, and cater to the educational needs of individuals over 50. By engaging in these activities, the service plays a vital role in promoting social responsibility, sustainable development, and positive societal impact within and beyond the university community.
