Teaching Innovation Networks in Service Learning

Short description

The Teaching Innovation Networks in Service Learning initiative aims to promote service learning as an exceptional approach to connect academic learning with social commitment. Its primary objectives include disseminating the concept within the UdG community and raising awareness of relevant experiences both within and outside the university. The initiative also seeks to expand the possibilities and opportunities of service learning and produce studies and materials that contribute to its dissemination and extension. Collaboration with other groups and universities interested in this pedagogical approach is also a key aspect of the initiative.

The network operates through monthly meetings where members come together to share experiences and progress in the established work plan for each academic year. It coordinates with the Learning Network Service of Catalan Universities -ApS (U) Cat- to foster collaboration and exchange of knowledge. The initiative also undertakes studies and develops materials that aim to broaden the possibilities of service learning and contribute to educational innovation. Furthermore, it publishes articles, guides, manuals, and other resources to enhance its visibility and dissemination. Active participation in major conferences and congresses on university teaching is encouraged, as well as involvement in the training of teaching methodologies organized by the ICE (Institute of Education Sciences) on an annual basis.

The initiative is supported by the Josep Pallach Institute of Education Sciences at the UdG, providing the necessary structure and assistance. It brings together a group of university teachers at the Universitat de Girona who are passionate about exploring and experimenting with this pedagogical approach, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and innovation.
