SPACE presentation at VUB International Days

01/06/2024

On May 27th to 29th 2024 the International Relations Office (IRMO) of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) marked its 20th anniversary with the International Days. As part of this milestone event, the IRMO_Team organised a series of engaging activities tailored to VUB staff members interested in international collaboration. The VUB SPACE-Team took part in the event, presenting first achievements and lessons learned.

Celebrating 20 Years of International Relations and Collaborations at VUB

Over the past 20 years, IRMO has evolved from a few people into a full-service unit that provides extensive support to the entire university, including the 24% of international students enrolled at VUB. Today, the International Relations Office is a cornerstone of VUB’s internationalisation processes in education, research, and societal engagement. The International Days celebrated IRMO’s success, and offered an opportunity to inspire new international collaborations. The event offered spaces to learn about project funding opportunities, highlighting programs like Erasmus+ and VLIR-UOS through live testimonials and interactive panel discussions featuring representatives from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) and the Erasmus+ National Agency of Flanders (EPOS).

Showcasing first achievements and lessons learned with the SPACE Project

The afternoon’s poster session and walking lunch, provided a platform for ongoing Erasmus+ projects. As IRMO celebrates two decades of fostering international relations, the International Days 2024 event not only aimed to honor past achievements but also wished to set a stage for future aspirations and opportunities in global academic collaboration. The Erasmus+ SPACE project exemplifies this forward-thinking spirit. During the poster session, the VUB SPACE-Team presented their project’s goals, progress, and initial insights. The SPACE  journey is just beginning, but the insights gained will fuel our ongoing mission to enhance international academic partnerships and community engagement.
