SPACE project consortium meeting in Rijeka

The SPACE project, funded through the Erasmus+ programme, is a continuation of TECFE and SHEFCE projects, is another community engagement initiative involving four European universities from Ireland, Belgium, Spain, and Croatia. As part of this project, academic staff will integrate community engaged teaching and learning into their curricula, an approach that combines academic instruction with meaningful community engagement.

The program’s development was discussed during a three-day partner meeting held from 4 to 6 September 2024 at the University of Rijeka. The agenda included collaborative sessions on designing the overarching curriculum framework, a two-part Train the Facilitators workshop, and planning local university activities with community partners. Special attention was given to aligning local implementation strategies across partner institutions and refining tools for structured dialogue with community organisations.

With the groundwork laid in Rijeka, the project is now moving into its implementation phase. Stay tuned as we follow how universities across Europe bring innovation and civic engagement into their classrooms through SPACE.
